This is one of the tutorials for creating 3D effects

Following are the detailed procedure for creating above 3D button:

Step 1: create a gradient circle as a template:
(set the paint color foreground color as white, and background as black)
(click on the fill shape paint tool and select the circle, and then check the gradient,
set size to 200 and choose radial and double)

Step 2: extract a partial gradient circle from the template
use the circle selection too to make a selection, and set current selected layer to layer 1
then click the clone menu the second choice. Then a new layer with extracted partion gradient circle is generated.

you can use implace resize and move tool in layer manger to change its size or location

Step 3: create a new image with specific background and copy/paste the layer
use the layer copy/paste tool to get the gradient circle layer to destinate image with specific background.

Step 4: get the final button image and use blur filter to make it more smooth
use selection tool to select a rectangle or whatever shape, and click the clone menu the third option to
make the selected region as a new layer

then use blur filter to smooth it.

Final step, use the " layer menu ==>make current layer a new image " to promote that layer to a new image and save it.

Next we will show you how to make a shining spot 3D effect.

Ok, it is the time for the second tutorial, this one will show you how to put a shine spot

First of all, use the step one 1 and 2 above to get a red ball with partial brightening.
In order to get red ball, you should use red as background color instead of black.

Then, use the gradient fill shape paint tool to add a spot:
(set the paint foreground color as white, select circle, check gradient and set size to 80, choose radial, and "Single" this time.)
then just draw it, then you will get spot light layer. Later you can move/resize or change opacity to get perfect result:

Just that simple you will get such nice shining ball.

With few more steps you will be get following effects.
(just add a shade layer or other text layer underneath)
Please refer shading tutorial for more details

Enjoy :a055:
